Joints Support
Joints are the places where two or more bones meet, forming connections that enable movement and stability. They consist not only of bone but also of soft tissues such as ligaments, cartilage, and tendons.
Joints play a crucial role in keeping the skeleton connected, and most allow for a range of motion. For instance, a ball-and-socket joint—like the one between the shoulder and arm—permits movement in multiple directions, including up, down, and around. In contrast, a hinge joint, such as the knee, allows movement primarily in one direction, like bending and straightening.
