What Is Health? My Body, His Temple

When we ask, “What is health?” many of us quickly think of medicine, supplements, or the latest herbal trend. But true health goes deeper—it’s not found in a pill, a hormone cream, or even in the “perfect” diet.

Real health is whole—it involves both body and spirit.

A healthy woman isn’t just someone with good lab results. She’s someone who:

  • Wakes up with joy and purpose, ready to serve God (Philippians 4:4).

  • Begins her day with prayer and God’s Word (Psalm 119:105).

  • Practices good stewardship by eating nourishing foods and using wise supplementation (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

  • Finds laughter in her children’s silly moments and joy in relationships (Proverbs 17:22).

  • Ends her day in peace and rest (Psalm 4:8).

True health isn’t just about avoiding sickness. It’s about the condition of the heart and soul.

My Body, His Temple

If we see our body as our project, we will always strive and feel burdened when health issues arise. But when we recognize our body as God’s temple, our perspective shifts:

  • Health is not something we earn. It is something we steward in obedience and worship.

  • Eating well, exercising, and resting aren’t acts of vanity—they are acts of worship.

  • Even in sickness, we can trust that God is sovereign and working for His glory (Romans 8:28).

Practical Steps Toward Stewardship

Once our spiritual foundation is firm, we can begin practicing daily stewardship of our bodies:

  1. Drink Water → Learn why hydration is essential in 40 Days to Replenish.

  2. Eat Whole Foods → Discover how to shop, prepare, and enjoy real food in season.

  3. Move Your Body → Simple walking or stretching can be powerful forms of care.

  4. Rest Well → Protect your sleep as a gift from God.

  5. Communion → Remember the Lord through the regular feasting.

"Health is not something we earn. It is something we steward in obedience and worship."

Final Thought

Health is not about striving for perfection. It is about surrendering to God, caring for His temple, and trusting His plan—whether in strength or in weakness.

"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."— 3 John 1:2
